I always thought the tower of Zozma was easy, actually. The entirety of Anuenue is my least favorite part of the game.

I hated Anuenue too...athough I sorta enjoy the library. The biggest reason being that Folon is the boss, and Folon is like a Dunmer on crack.
Dunmer + crack = yay

Savyna, obviously.
Usefulness of characters, IMO just goes in the order they appear.
Kalas > Xelha > Gibari > Lyude > Savyna > Mizuti

I tend to favor Mizuti over Xelha. But that's just I can only take so much AQUA BURST! WIND BLOW! WIND BLOW! FIRE BURST! WIND BLOW!
Conversely, watching Mizuti eat her enemies never gets old.
