This is a rant made by myself in which you may comment on if you'd like, it is part of a series of rants which will come up. Now, for the subject at hand. Astrid, why'd she have to get Paragon skill when there was clearly others who deserved it more. One, she levels up, and when you max her out, you'll be disappointed that she's just a big waste of a good skill. Further to my point, she will still likely die in one or two hits if you max her out, so if you want to bother using herm stay FAR away from enemies. Some people say she's worth using, but that is wrong because I've had experience with her and ended up distributing valuble BEXP to her, and it is definately not worth the tremendous effort when you could have had it on someone like Mist and ended up with a good healer. Oh, and Shinon and Rolf are MUCH better archers. PS: This is the POR Astrid, not the RD one, because in RD you can take away Astrid's Paragon and give it to someone who deserves it more.

They give it to her because if anyone who was actually leveled when recruited, then they would be overpowered.
Astrid starts as level one to let the player think she is a "project" character where you grow her (babying for the first 5 levels or so) into a paladin...where then she will get more leveled and perhaps more powerful
Though, its not like anyone follows it

But...but I like Astrid... In all fairness, I understand that she's inferior to Kieran and Oscar (and probably Titania, Geoffrey, and Makalov as well), but I've always found her to be pretty useful. When compared to Rolf and Shinon, she tends to be a litle easier to raise and I've found her to be less prone to RNG screwage (though that may be the dreaded PERSONAL EXPERIENCE talking there...) Plus, she is able to hit & run so she's less likely to get attacked back (though she's admittedly more fragile) and she can use another weapon type upon promotion if you don't like the bows. ...I dunno. I just like her. Maybe I just get RNG blessed, or maybe I just have an irrational love for mounted archers (hi Rath!), but...yeah. She and Kieran are my favorite pallies to use.

I liked Astrid in PoR. In RD, she's too difficult to train up.

My Astrid is broken. Ask Led. She does as much damage as anyone, is faster than anyone, and has a nineteen defense. And she's only at level five promoted.
I like the charecter. She gain's ep quick, so she gets good much moarly quicker. And I like calvery archers.

There are better archers (Shinon and Rolf) But being mounted, she does have a slight advantage, but her defense needs some work. Pretty RNG proof, but the lack of good bases and rarely capping well kinda kills her. Also, no crossbows...
